Chemical peeling is a skin treatment method used to obtain a healthier, younger and smoother skin appearance by peeling off the dead cell layer on the skin. It is used for acne, blemishes and skin rejuvenation. In this method, a special chemical solution is applied to the skin and cleaned from the skin surface after waiting for a certain period of time.

Chemical peels target a range of skin problems by exfoliating and renewing the top layer of skin. These problems include acne scars, pigmentation issues, sun damage, wrinkles and blemishes. The main purpose of chemical peeling is to reduce blemishes on the skin, equalize skin tone, improve skin texture and provide rejuvenation.

There are different types of chemical peels, and the treatment option depends on the type of skin problem, skin type, and personal preferences. The most commonly used chemical peeling types are:

1. Superficial Peeling: Superficial peeling removes dead cells and dirt by gently peeling the upper layer of the skin. This type of peeling is usually performed using alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid or lactic acid.

2. Medium Depth Peeling: Medium depth peeling provides more peeling by targeting the upper and middle layers of the skin. Active ingredients such as trichloroacetic acid (TCA) or retinol may be used in this type of peeling.

3. Deep Peeling: Deep peeling provides a more comprehensive skin renewal by targeting the deep layers of the skin. Strong chemicals such as phenol are used and are often recommended for serious skin problems.

Chemical peeling should usually be performed by a dermatologist in a clinic setting. During the procedure, the skin is first cleaned, then the chemical solution is applied to the skin and left for a certain period of time. The solution is then cleaned from the skin and moisturized with skin care products.

After chemical peeling, slight redness, crusting or sensitivity may occur on the skin. These side effects usually resolve within a few days. After the procedure, the skin is renewed and a smoother, fresher and younger appearance is achieved. However, sensitivity to the sun may increase, so regular use of sunscreen products is important.
