Male Pattern Baldness

Androgenetic alopecia is the most common type of hair loss and is typically seen in men.

Androgenetic alopecia is the most common type of hair loss and is typically seen in men. However, it can also occur in women. This condition arises from a combination of genetic predisposition and hormonal influences.

Androgenetic alopecia is characterized by the gradual thinning and shrinking of hair follicles. Hair loss often leads to a receding hairline at the temples (a progressive hairline moving backward from the temples) and thinning of hair in the crown area. While it usually results in baldness in men, it can manifest as hair thinning in women.

The treatment of androgenetic alopecia aims to stop or slow down hair loss and promote hair growth. Some common treatment options include:

Minoxidil: Minoxidil, used as a topical solution or spray, can stimulate hair growth by affecting hair follicles. Regular and long-term use may be required.

Finasteride: An oral prescription medication recommended only for men. It can stop or slow down hair loss by inhibiting the production of DHT (dihydrotestosterone). Long-term use is required, and it should be used under medical supervision.

Hair Transplantation: In cases of advanced hair loss, hair transplantation may be considered. In this procedure, hair follicles are extracted from the donor area and transplanted into bald areas.

Laser Therapy: Low-level laser light treatment for hair loss may promote hair growth.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP): PRP treatment involves injecting enriched platelets obtained from the individual's own blood into the scalp. This may stimulate hair growth and reduce hair loss.

Microneedling Radiofrequency: A device called Scarlet X combines microneedling with radiofrequency technology. This treatment method involves applying microneedles to the scalp and using radiofrequency energy. Scarlet X aims to promote hair growth.

Mesotherapy: Mesotherapy is a treatment where vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients are injected into the scalp. This may stimulate hair growth and reduce hair loss.

The treatment of androgenetic alopecia can vary depending on the severity of the condition, personal factors, and preferences. A dermatologist will assess your hair condition and recommend a suitable treatment plan.

Please note that androgenetic alopecia is a chronic process requiring regular monitoring. Early diagnosis and treatment usually yield better results. If you notice signs of hair loss, it is important to consult a specialist.
