Seborrheic dermatitis is a skin condition that occurs in oily areas of the scalp and body.
This condition can cause itching, redness, flaking, and oily skin lesions on the scalp. Seborrheic dermatitis is often seen in areas where sebaceous glands are concentrated, such as the scalp, eyebrows, sides of the nose, behind the ears, and the chest.

The exact cause of seborrheic dermatitis is unknown, but the interaction of certain factors may play a role. Factors such as excessive activity of sebaceous glands, an increase in a type of fungus on the skin called Malassezia, hormonal changes, stress, genetic predisposition, and immune system problems can contribute to the development of seborrheic dermatitis.

Symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis may include:

- Itching: Intense itching sensation on the scalp and affected areas.
- Redness: Redness and irritation in the affected areas.
- Flaking: Formation of white or yellowish oily flakes, especially on the scalp and eyebrows.
- Oily lesions: Oily and scaly skin lesions, especially around the nose, behind the ears, and on the chest.

The following methods can be used in the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis:

1. Medical Shampoos: Special shampoos with antifungal or dead skin removal properties can be used to cleanse affected areas and alleviate itching. Active ingredients in shampoos may include ketoconazole, selenium sulfide, zinc pyrithione, among others.

2. Topical Corticosteroids: In cases of severe inflammation and itching, topical corticosteroid creams or lotions prescribed by your doctor can be used for the recommended duration and dosage.

3. Antifungal Medications: In some cases, a doctor may prescribe antifungal medications (oral or topical). These medications can help control the growth of the Malassezia fungus.

4. Daily Skincare: Regular cleansing and moisturizing of the scalp and affected areas are important. Using appropriate shampoos and moisturizers can support skin health.

5. Stress Management: Reducing stress levels can help alleviate seborrheic dermatitis symptoms. Methods such as exercise, meditation, or breathing exercises can be tried to reduce stress.

Seborrheic dermatitis treatment should be individually determined, as each person's condition may vary. A dermatologist will evaluate the situation and recommend the most suitable treatment plan. Regular communication with your doctor is important to keep symptoms under control.
